Schnepf Farms, who have been providing agri-entertainment and events for years in the Queen Creek area suffered a fire at the old homestead. The Evolution of Queen Creek sends condolences to the family and we will pray that this will not affect your business as you are appreciated in the community.

I've been off the blogging path for quite a while, partly because not much had changed in the area in a while an I just did not think there was much to blog about.
Recently there have been a few activities in the area that seem to tell me that we are in growth mode again in the QC area. We have a new freeway extension being built near the Mesa Gateway airport and a new housing development un the same area. I've noticed that the traffic has certainly increased during my morning commute going north on Ironwood. The last time I saw this much traffic and this many trucks was during the fist housing boom here 8 years ago.
Much has changed. The area now has it's own little hospital, Banner Ironwood. There are a few more new small businesses popping up. Not too many smoke shops and cash advance stores that I was fearing. A few of the original businesses are still faring well. My favorites of course are Sushi Creek, The Olive Mill, the Pork Shop and Schnepfs Farms. These four staples are the best of the entrepreneurial spirit of small businesses that I love.
So, there are some new ventures happening around the area that deserve some note and I hope to rev up this blog and talk about them.
If you have a favorite you'd like for me to discuss or review, please send me a note.
Thanks,

The show included Pat Benetar and her husband along with Eddie Money.

I wanted to recommend this venue. We really enjoyed ourselves and if you are like us, we loved the fact that we did not have to drive 30 minutes to an hour to see a show and then drive home. The show was also in the afternoon.

We bought the mid-priced seats at $40. After fees for the two of us we paid $103 to attend. Our seats were in Section 2 in about the middle of the seats with a direct view of the stage. It was not too crowded and the show was very good. The crowd was pretty mellow and the average age of the crowd was about 50 years old. The music was perfect for those of us reliving our 20's as the rockers were also the same age (but still rockin' it).

There is a VIP option and then a lawn option. The lawn option is with blankets. I feel that any of the seats were great but if you are like me I like to sit so the $40 were good for me.

Parking - Parking is $5. You are directed away from the venue and have to walk a bit to get back to the concert area. You are also conveniently walking through the model home area. VIP parking is $25. When we left, we did not have to walk the circuit again as there were buses that took you back to the parking lot.

If you go, be prepared to buy food and drink as you cannot bring this in with you. Also, wear a hat and dress cool. The weather was perfect at the show we attended but if the Arizona weather starts to break it could get crazy hot. No shade.

I would recommend the shows. The next one is going to be March 29th. Oct. 30, the Town of Queen Creek is hosting a "Trunk or Treat" event from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Desert Mountain Park. The town is anticipating over 5,000 attendees at this event, which will feature fun for the whole family.

Trunk or Treat Street provides a safe place for children to trick or treat as decorated cars line the drive and pass out candy. Those looking for a fright can venture into the "Phantom Funhouse." The Bone Yard provides attendees with carnival games, vendors and food. Live entertainment will also be available on the "Stage Fright” stage. Roving entertainers will also be available to keep those in line happy and engaged.

For any dogs that want to get in on the fun, the town is also hosting a Howloween Canine Costume Contest.

San Tan ValleyPecan Creek North Spooktacular

The Pecan Creek (North) Subdivision is once again throwing a community party to celebrate Halloween, and vendor space is still available. Their annual Spooktacular event will be held Oct. 30, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jack Harmon Elementary School located at 39315 N. Cortona Dr. in San Tan Valley.

The event will feature a costume contest, hay rides, face painting, a balloon artist, food and drinks, a canine demonstration by the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, multiple bounce houses and of course, the vendor event. Times are tough and many employers are scaling back benefits including insurance options. This brings me to my poll question this week:

Would you purchase health insurance from your employer if the only option was a $10,000 deductible?

This means the first $10,000 in any costs, including prescriptions are paid out of your pocket.

Your comments about health care and health care reform would interest me also.
QCEVOhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11702900772777574909noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968882881001230066.post-48155387762750380862010-09-11T07:20:00.000-07:002010-09-11T07:23:18.726-07:00God Bless America
God bless America.

We'll not forget that horrific day.

Dream kindly of the country you would like us become in the future.

QCEVOhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11702900772777574909noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968882881001230066.post-8308165380435626352010-09-06T14:29:00.001-07:002010-09-06T14:39:06.878-07:00RIP Robert Schimmel I was so sad to hear about the death this week of comedian Robert Schimmel. He was one of the few comedians that made me laugh so hard I cried. He survived a heart attack and cancer. He died this week after a serious auto accident in the Phoenix / Scottsdale area.

I had the pleasure of seeing his show at the Tempe Improv. I had a good friend who was battling cancer. I sent him a book written by Mr. Schimmel titled "Cancer on $5 a day, not including chemo". He so made my friend laugh and it was so nice for him to read a book by another person going through cancer treatment.

Even though I did not know him personally I am so glad that I knew about him and had the opportunity to laugh at his jokes.

RIP Robert Schimmel - you will be missed.QCEVOhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11702900772777574909noreply@blogger.com1
